I’ve always been drawn to easy, slip-on shoes; high heels are too much effort, and athletic shoes never quite fit my style. Yet, after years of trying what felt like every slide, mule, and clog on the market, I realized something was missing: there simply weren’t any shoes that combined true comfort and support with the effortless, open-back styles me and my husband love. When I found shoes that supported my old dancer’s feet, they didn’t fit my aesthetic. When I found ones I loved from a style perspective, they lacked the footbed development I needed for all-day wear. It felt like an impossible choice: either I wore shoes that felt good but looked, well, not so great or opted for shoes that looked stylish but had zero support, leaving me with an achy back and sore feet. This frustration led my husband Chris and I to create the solution we had been searching for.

We worked closely with podiatrists and biomechanics specialists to develop footbeds that provide serious support—while keeping that effortlessly cool, easy-breezy style we love. But we didn’t stop there. We wanted more versatility and sustainability. Why toss a shoe when the footbed wears down? Why not give people the freedom to change comfort profiles or switch up their style? That’s when we rethought how shoes are made. After countless iterations, we patented our technology, and Commbi was born.
